The Council is presently reviewing their Freedom Camping Bylaw

The Howick Village Carpark is filled up with shoppers during the day, but is now available for self-contained motor caravanners to stay overnight.

Whlle the Auckland Council have made this carpark available via their website, there was no sign to that effect in the parking area when we called in to check it out. 

This would be a good choice for overnight parking if you wanted to do some shopping, eat out, or go to a movie. However, it is really busy during normal business hours, including weekends, so it would be almost impossible to find a place to park for a large self-contained motorhome or caravan.

Also, the parking area is on a slope, with only a small area that would be level enough for parking overnight.

If you want to stay here, it would pay to arrive after 5 pm, and be prepared to leave before the shoppers arrive on the following morning.

We also tried to find the carpark at 41 Moore St, which is listed on the council website, but without success.
