Parking area and toilets
The Knights Point Lookout has a large parking area and offers stunning views over the rugged West Coast. This is part of South West World Heritage Area of New Zealand, which also include Aoraki/Mt Cook, Westland, Fiordland, adn Mt Aspiring National Parks.
This was one of the most isolated areas of New Zealand. Early Maori established a canoe building centre, and fishing an Jade (pounamu) weer the main activities. The early European settlers relied on shipping until the road was finally completed 1965.
This is a nice place to stop and enjoy the view. There is plenty of parking, although overnight parking is not allowed.
