Pemberton Corner is a large rest area where a sign has been set up to commemorate the original Pemberton village established in the late 1880s, which included an accommodation house, post office and school. However, it proved to be just a transitory settlement, and the centre of the local community moved to Rangiwahi in 1895.
Otherwise, this is just an unremarkable rest stop where you could stop for a coffee break, or even park overnight if you are self-contained.
