The walk up to the hilltop reserve overlooking the
Rangitikei river
The Flat Hills Rest Area is on State Highway 1, just south of Mangaweka. It is next to a small hilltop reserve that overlooks the Rangitikei river.
It's a nice location to stop for a break, but there is likely to be too much road noise to enjoy parking overnight.
