The Waiouru Army Museum is a major attraction for those interested in our military history, and there are allocated parking areas for self-contained motor caravanners to park overnight.

Waiouru is the main training area for the New Zealand Army, and the museum has the most comprehensive collection of military exhibits, memoriabilia, and public research material.

It's open every day except Christmas Day.

If you want to stay overnight, you must register at the reception desk, so you need to be there before 4:30pm. We arrived a bit later, but when in the following morning and made the requested donation to the museum.

The carpark is monitored overnight making it a safe location for overnight parking.
