WAIKATO: WAIKATO

Te Uku is a tiny rural community that you could easily drive past without really noticing, unlike the wind farm that dominates the landscape. 

Their community church has offered their car park as a viewing platform for anyone who wants to stop, and there are some large noticeboards that describe the project - which was a local community initiative set up as a joint venture with Meridian Energy.

While it was interesting to read about the wind farm, it occurred to us that this might well be a good location to park overnight, in addition to the community hall in Te Uku. The park is nice and level, and the view out over the hills with the wind farm is definitely a little different.
