WAIKATO: WAIKATO

We arrived at the Waingaro Hot Springs on a late afternoon in mid-winter, thinking that it would be nice to soak away the last 3 days of driving down from the Awhitu peninsula. 

We pulled up outside the entrance, but noticed that there was no mobile coverage, and I needed that for some work had to be done that evening. I went in and had a chat with the owner in the reception, thinking that maybe we would have a soak in the private pools before heading on to Raglan. However, the cost of doing that was only a little cheaper than staying overnight in the holiday park, so we decided to move on.

The large public pool complex was filled with people, so the pools were obviously quite popular, especially given that they are abour 30 minutes drive from Hamilton.

We didn't have a chance to check out the holiday park itself.
