Waihi Rd Reserve is a stunning reserve overlooking the southern end of Lake Taupo. A nice quiet place to stop for a break, but not available for parking overnight.
The sign forbidding overnight camping is probably not legal as there is no obvious reason why self contained motor caravanners shouldn't be able to park overnight. It's a public reserve after all.
