Overnight parking area
The Tihoi Tavern to the west of Lake Taupo offers overnight parking and excellent meals for self-contained motor caravanners.
The tavern specialises in 'hearty country meals', and is located in a quiet rural area with some great walking tracks to explore.
Parking is beside the tavern, with another large area on farmland across the road. However, the farmland is quite uneven, and it could easily be a problem for front-wheel drive motorhomes, especially in wet weather.
