The Moana Roa Reserve (also known as Bob's Landing) provides lake access on the SH1 side of Lake Karapiro. The parking area overlooking the lake has public toilets and is available for Freedom Camping.
The access road goes right down along the lake front and the boat ramp, but there is no parking available. The main carpark is at the top end of the loop road and overlooks the lake, and is also where the public toilets are located.
There were quite a few vans there, but most of them where small non-self-contained vans who were able to park over because of the public toilets
