Walking through native bush to the Marokopa Falls
Further along the forest walk
The Marakopa Falls are another significant attraction along the Waitomo to Marokopa higway. They are accessed from the roadside parking area down a well maintained track through native forest. The walk takes about 10 minutes.
On a sunny mid-Autumn afternoon, we found plenty of people on their way to see the waterfall. There are no toilets, so you should make use of the ones at the Mangaphue Natural Bridge if your're not in a self-contained van.
The falls themselves were quite spectacular - not as big or high as some, but well worth going to see.
While there is no suitable space for overnight parking, this is well worth stopping - for both the forest walk and the falls.
