The Firth Tower Museum is in a rural area just out of Matamata. In addition to restored historic buildings and artefacts, powered sites are available for motor caravanners.

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon when we visited, and we were really impressed with the quality of the restored buildings and the exhibits. We ended up spending a couple of hours browsing before we had to leave, on our way to Napier.

There are a limited number of powered sites available around the parking area. You can pay to use these in the museum reception.

It's in a quiet country location and would be a great choice for staying overnight.

Not everyone is interested in New Zealand history, but this is a shining gem for those who are.

20-Sep-2019 Excellent place to stay overnight, very welcoming in a rural setting and no requirement to go around the museum. Was $6 unpowered site and $12 Powered. Toilets and good fresh water supply available.
