Trucks stopping for a rest break
The Mangatarata Rest Area is a long parking area set back from State Highway 2 opposite the Hauraki Golf Club, and a short walk from the very popular Woodturners Cafe.
It is mainly used by trucks as a rest stop, but would also make a nice place to stop for a travel break, or even overnight if you were stuck for a place to stay.
The Woodturners Cafe is a short walk of around 100 meters, where you can have an excellent lunch in a quirky environment. Of course, there is also parking available at the cafe.
