WAIKATO: HAURAKI

There is a small reserve along the banks of the Waihou river where self-contained motor caravanners can park overnight next to the boat ramp and pier.

We were driving along Hauraki Rd, on the way back to Auckland from Te Aroha, when we decided to stop at the country bakery for a lunch break. We were astonished at the range of food on offer is a small farming community with no other shops. However, it was quite busy, and the quality of the food on offer was really good.

Whlle chatting to one of the locals, he suggested that we should check out the wharf, where there is a small reserve where we could park overnight, should we want to - which was how we found this location.

It's not a big parking area, but it is directly overlooking the river, and should be reasonably quiet.
