Opoutere Coastal Camping is in a remote, untouched location, among ancient Pohutukawa trees, with access to 5 km of white sand surf beach.
We called in in early spring following some heavy rain. The lower level of the campsite had been cleared out, but the upper level well occupied.
The driveway up to the upper level site was a double concrete track, which might need a little care when driving a larger motorhome or caravan.
We didn't take time to walk down to the beach, but overall, this looks like a really nice typical 'Kiwi' experience campsite, well away from the traffic and busy towns.
The facilities were well maintained.
