The beachfront reserve at Tararu North is a stunning location looking out over the Firth of Thames. Self-contained motor caravanners can freedom camp between the signs.
This will be a popular location for freedom campers - just be sure that you are certified self-contained, as the local council will hit you with a $200 fine if you are not.
You are allowed to stay for a maximum of two nights - presumably in any calendar month, but the council sign is not clear on that. Likewise, the requirement to depart by 9am only applies on the day that you are leaving.
