The Danby Field parking area is right in Thames town and is available for self-contained motor caravanners to freedom park.
We arrived late on an autumn afteroon, and the parking area was already well occupied. I imagine that you'd need to arrive quite early if you want to stay overnight during the busy summer holiday season. It is a very convenient location while visiting Thames, being walking distance from the Goldfield Shopping Centre, or from the main Thames town shopping.
You need to park between the Freedom Camping signs, and are limited to just 2 nights.
The sign also requires that you depart by 9 am, which doesn't make much sense if you're staying for two nights. However, I've checked with the council, and you are only required to depart at 9am on the morning that you're leaving.
