The Te Waikoropupu Springs is listed as the largest cold water springs in the southern hemisphere, and is set in a stunning location for visitors to enjoy.
There is a reasonable amount of room in the sealed parking area which has public toilets and access to the bush walk to New Zealand's largest freshwater springs. It boasts some of the clearest water ever measured.
The bush walk to the spings was stunning, and only exceeded by the view over the springs - which was more like a large lake, with crystal clear water bubbling up close to the viewing platform.
You can spend an hour just reading about the history of the springs where the large information plaques are displayed in the entrance..
It was quite busy when we visited on a beautiful clear Easter Sunday. While the carpark was almost full, we were still able to find somewhere to park our 8 metre van.
While there was no sign forbidding parking overnight, we don't know if this is allowed.
