Pak n Save in the Richmond shopping mall
Richmond Mall has a large carpark that provides access to Pak n Save, Kmart and other shopping facilities.
We called in late afternoon, having driven from Westport, on our way to Nelson. We needed to top up with groceries at the local Pak n Save, and checked whether we could park overnight in the carpark.
Even though there were signs stating, no freedom camping, overnight parking in self-contained motorhomes was allowed at the northeast end of the carpark. The only requirments were a maximum of 15 vehicles, and having to leave before 9am the following morning.
It should be noted that overnight parking doesn't allow getting the awning and barbecue out. That is freedom camping, and it not appropriate for a shopping centre carpark.
This was very convenient for us. However, be sure to check it out before deciding to stay overnight as these rules can change.
