Wharariki Beach Holiday Park is a great location to enjoy stunning beach walks in an isolated rural environment at the very top of the South Island.
We called in on a cold, blustery autumn afternoon, and were most impressed with the enthusiasm of the two American students who had fallen in love with the location and were now staying here on a working holiday.
The campsite was empty, which was not surprising given its isolation and the time of the year.
However, if you really want to get away from everythng, but still have quality facilities, long walks to explore the beach, and the chance to walk among the local seal population, this would be hard to beat.
It is isolated, and there is no mobile phone coverage. Enjoy!
