The McKee Memorial Reserve is a large council owned campsite alongside the beach, with bush walks, shelter, cold showers, and a dump station.
This is a great family location for weekends, or longer camping holidays. The playground is typical kiwi - not flash, but good fun and includes a flying fox.
The barbeques scattered around the campsite are about as rustic kiwi as you can get. They'd be fun to cook a meal on.
The beach is stony and not especially inviting. There is plenty of shelter from wind.
