The town of Oakura is just 15 minutes south of New Plymouth, and the holiday park is located right on the beach beside a small public reserve. There is safe swimming and surfing, good fishing, and nature walks.
It was a dull cloudy day when we arrived, which didn't really do the campsite justice. While not large, it Is spacious and right on the waterfront. The facilities were clean and there is a small store in the office building, which is on other side of the road entrance from the campsite.
Overall, a nice quiet, west coast beach location.
