Unfortunately, no camping
Concrete truck repairing the boat ramp
Lake Outlet Reserve is located where the Hawea river empties into Lake Wanaka. It is a beautiful location on the lake front and with a number of bush walks.
This would be a great location for a picnic lunch, or to do one of the bush walks which leave from here.
Overnight parking is not allowed, which is a pity, as it would be a perfect location for this. There is a holiday park next door if you'd like to stay over.
It was a bit noisy when we were there as a concrete truck was beng used to repair the boat ramp. Normally it should be very quiet and peaceful.
Of course the boat ramp also makes this a great location for accessing the lake for fishing or kayaking.
