OTAGO: DUNEDIN

There are a number of rest areas on the Taieri Mouth Rd going south from Dunedin, and they all allow overnight parking for self-contained motor caravans. The very last one of these, still within the Dunedin city boundary, is more sheltered, and not visible from the road. 

It is just opposite the Moturata Ialand Scenic Reserve.

We were there on a miserable wet autumn afternoon, but still enjoyed stopping for lunch before heading on south to Balclutha.

There is a track for getting down to the beach, but it was too wet and wild to do that on this trip.
