OTAGO: DUNEDIN

Portobello Village Tourist Park is a comfortable holiday park well placed for visiting the main attractions on the Otago Peninsula. 

We stayed there overnight after visiting Lanoch Castle and the Royal Albatross Centre one overcast mid-autumn day.

It is quite a small campsite, and was almost full in autumn, so we would suggest booking ahead if you want to stay there in the busy summer holiday seaon.

The facilities were reasonable, but the well designed, unmetred showers were spoiled by having a fixed temperature - set at a not quite hot enough, especially on a cold drizzling night when we arrived.

The campsite is a short walk from the local village, and a nice place to stay if spending a few days on the peninsula.
