The large public carpark in front of the Cromwell town centre is also available for self-contained motor caravanners to park overnight.
This is an excellent location to catch up with some shopping, or eating out at a cafe or restaurant.
Cromwell is one of the most motorhome friendly towns that we have visited. Along with the stunning Lowburn harbour freedom camping site, and excellent public dump station at Richards Beach, there are also lots of beautiful location for self-contained motor carravanners to enjoy along the eastern shores of Lake Dunstan.
And, of course, there are also very good holiday parks around town as well.
Be sure to visit the Old Town when you're staying over, and the drive out to Bannockburn Hotel for a restaurant quality meal at the beautifully restored hotel is well worthwhile.
Cromwell is one of our favourite locations, and we make a point of staying for a few days whenever we are down in Central Otago.
