Hikurangi Hotel is a country pub just north of Whangarei where self-contained motor caravanners can park overnight.
Hikurangi is a quiet little town and the hotel might be a good parkover if visiting friends or family in the area. There's a Four Square dairy across the road, and the pub offers a bistro meal if needed.
The parking area was gravel and quite potholed when we visited, although there was plenty of level parking available.
