Beach access from the campsite
High swings
New toilet facilities
Promenade Point is the smaller of the two campsites at Kai Iwi Lakes and is on the other side of Lake Taharoa. There is on-grass parking, and a modern toilet, but no showers
Like the Pine Beach campsite, there are no powered sites available, which shouldn't be a problem for self-contained motor caravanners.
Trout fishing and water sport activities are popular, and if you're planning to walk the track to Ripiro Beach, then it is a little shorter from this side of the lake. You can also follow the track around the lake, which is likely to take a couple of hours.
There are swings for the kids, but no childrens playground. However it is a safe location for kids to run around and explore.
It's very popular over the summer holiday season, and on public holidays, so be sure to book ahead of time if you want to stay over.
We visited on the first day of Spring, and had the lake to ourselves.
