Baylys Beach is a large seaside community on the Ripiro coast not far from Dargaville.The holiday park has plenty of on-grass powered sites and good facilities.
While the holiday park is set back from the beach, it is next to both the Funky Fish cafe and the Astronomy Adventures observatory.
It's about a 10 minute walk down to the beach, but a really cool alternative is to hire one of the 6 quad bikes available on site - perfect for exploring further along the beach, going fishing, surfing, or collecting shellfish at low tide.
Horse trekking is also available for rides along the beach.
The observatory is a unique attraction, being the largest hands on telescope in New Zealand, and it located at Baylys Beach because of the clear night sky away from the town and city lights.
