Moreton Bay Fig in Pahi Reserve
Pahi is a small rural community on the banks of the Kaipara harbour and is well known for its huge Moreton Bay Fig tree and good fishing.
The council-owned campsite is very busy over summer, and the local Pahi Store also doubles as the camp office.
We visited at the end of winter and the campsite was empty. The powered sites are all on grass, which might not be suitable for parking over winter.
The camp facilities were clean and well maintained, and our general impression was that this would be a very nice place to stay either side of the busy summer holiday season.
Additional parking is also available on the reserve area, but you will still have to pay campsite fees. Powered sites are only available on the campsite area itself.
There is a jetty for launching boats, and on a nice sunny afternoon, you can while away a few hours sitting on the end with a fishing rod.
