Henderson Bay, just north of Houhora, is a beautiful golden sand beach that has been popular with the locals since the time of the early gum diggers.
It's a great location for fishing, going for a walk, or family picnics. There is only a small parking area, which I imagine would fill up quickly over the summer holidays.
Alternatively, you can park overnight at the Maunsell property, where you also have toilets and hot showers available for a modest cost. They are an 8 or 10 minute comfortable walk from the beach.
