Orongo Bay Holiday Park is the first stop on the way to Russell and is embarking on full scale effort to restore native bird life into the surrounding forest area
They have had some success, and one of the features of staying at Oronga Bay is being able to walk through the forest at night with the possibility of seeing Kiwi in their natural environment.
There are also Weka, and other native birds resident on the property, making this quite a special location to enjoy a hint of our original natural environment,
The facilities are all of a high standard and comfortable.
