The Bay of Islands Holiday Park is some distance out of Paihia, along the Waitangi River. Set among mature trees, it's quiet and spacious, with good facilities.
It was mid-spring when we visited, and the summer holiday season was yet to get underway, so there weren't many campers. It is such a large campsite that they can easily provide for all their summer visitors and still have room for motor caravanners looking for a casual night's stay.
The facilities were of a high standard, but the emphasis was on functional and comfortable.
With the mature trees throughout the campground, you can chose shade for full sun parking.
