Yealand's Winery is a interesting place to visit for tasting their wines - some of which have taken first prize in international competitions.
We decided to have a look (and taste) after being told about the winery by some other travellers that we'd met while staying overnight a the Half Moon Bay reserve north of Kaikoura.
For a country winery, it had a really nice wine tasting area, so they've obviously made some real money from selling their wines. The video presentation was interesting, and promoted Yealand's committment to growing organic as far as possible.
We really liked their sauvignon blanc, and their port, and ended up walking out with a small box of bottles. Very enjoyable!
They have a nice parking area, but you can't stay there overnight without Peter Yealand's permission.
