MARLBOROUGH: PICTON

Havelock is a country town on state highway 6 near the Marlborough Sounds. It's a great location for motor caravanners to stop, either for a break, buy groceries, use the public dump station and laundry-mat, or to stay at the local holiday park as a base for exploring the area.

We were driving through on our way to Nelson, and decided to stop at Rays Place cafe where we had a nice lunch. After lunch we went for a walk and were impressed with the local art gallery, and the modern public toilets.

The Four Square grocery store was next door to Rays Place cafe, and the public dump station was a little further at the northern end of the town.
