HAWKES BAY: NAPIER

The carpark at Perfume Point is a stunning location that the Napier city council have made available for freedom camping in self-contained vans.

This is now our preferred place to stay when we're visiting Napier. We've watched cruise ships being escorted into the port, boats going out fishing, people using the cycleway, and seen some stunning sun rises.

However, the parking area is not large, and is also used by the local residents, so you might not always find an empty space.

Sunrise at Perfume Point - this was worth getting up early for!
