BAY OF PLENTY: OPOTIKI

The northern entrance to the Waioeka Journey features a roadside rest area is information plaques preparing you for the journey ahead.

It's a very pleasant drive through mountainous countryside and along the winding Waioeka river. There are several rest area along the way that are suitable for stopping for a break, or even parking overnight if you're running late. There is also a very nice DOC campsite at Manganuku, near the southern end of the Journey.
