Parking area beside the toilets
The Monument parking area on the Waioeka Journey features a memorial to William Brook or surveyed and supervised the Waioeka Gorge road construction for 23 years until 1943. It also remembers the 3 men who died during that construction.
There are information plaques that describe the challenges of building the road, and it's importance in connecting the Bay of Plenty to Gisborne.
There are also toilets if you prefer not to fill up your own.
