Punakaiki Beach Camp is located just over 1 km north of the Punakaiki Visitor Centre and is a great choice for spending a few days enjoying the attractions of the area
These include the Pancake rocks, Truman Track, Pororari River track, knife making, caving, underground rafting & horse treks. You could easily spend an interesting 2 or 3 days here.
The campsite is located just behind the Punakaiki Tavern, which you could use for your evening meals if you're too tired to cook.
The campsite grounds were spacious and sheltered. The facilities were basic, but very clean and tidy. There is an access path to the beach if you want to go for a walk.
Unfortunately, we were enroute to Westport, and only had time to have a quick look through the campsite after walking through the pancack rocks and blowholes.
