WEST COAST: GREYMOUTH

The beachfront parking along the boundary of Jellyman Park looks directly over the beach. It is a very large carpark and we think is the best free parking location in Greymouth.

The first time we visited Jellyman Park it was just getting dark, with the weather forecast for a major storm arriving overnight, and we needed somewhere safe to park overnight. While it was exposed to wind, this was the best place that we could find - at least no risk of getting stuck with the level gravel surface to park on.

A couple of years later, we arrived on a lovely sunny afternoon, so I've updated the pictures we took.

The beach is a typical west coast beach, but nice to go for a stroll. And, in the distance we could see other motor caravanners parked on Shipwreck Point.
