Access to the Ruamahanga River

Gladstone has a large public reserve alongside the Ruamahanga River where self-contained motor caravanners can park overnight.

The reserve is divided into two areas, one with all weather gravel parking, and the other on grass.

It's in a quiet country location, with good fishing in the river, and just a short drive to the Gladstone Country Inn where you can enjoy a a really  nice meal along with all the locals in a surprisingly upmarket environment.

For us, this is one of the nicer locations in the South Wairarapa area - not a lot there, except that it is quiet, and the local people are friendly. It would be a great location to meet up with other travel buddies.

We were told that there is excellent fishing in the Ruamahanga River.
