Waikanae Estuary Carpark is a quiet location with a nice walk along the estuary to the beach. There is a toilet and motor caravanners can freedom camp.
The parking area is not as large as available at the boat club, but allows overnight parking for up to 4 vans.
The toilets are clean and near the entrance to the carpark.
This a popular location for local people to go for a walk, and many were exercising their dogs.
The location is also popular as a Nature Coast bird trail, and guided tours area available from www.naturecoastbirdtrail.co.nz, or by phoning 09 905 1001
