The Waikanae Boat Club off Waimea Rd has a large parking area where motor caravanners can park overnight.
There are public toilets available by the clubrooms and the Pizza Shop is a popular restaurant if you don't feel like cooking.
While you can't see the beach from the parking area, there are a number of paths over the sand dunes that lead to the beach.
We found it to be a popular location for local people going for a morning walk, or exercising their dogs.
