Taumaranui Cosmopolitan Club offers restaurant meals, free overnight parking for self-contained vans, and a Public Dump Station in central Taumaranui and just across the road from a New World Supermarket.
We arrived in the early evening after driving up the Forgotten World Highway from Stratford. There was plenty of room available in their large carpark, so we parked along the back and settled in for the night.
This is a great free location for staying in Taumaranui, right in the centre of town and close to all the shopping. You can walk across the road to top up your groceries at New World, or you can try out the club restaurant if you want to take a break from cooking. Or choose from the other restaurants on the main street.
There are even a few powered sites available along the side of the building and the public dump station is available even if you don't want to stay overnight.
The powered sites look to be free, but check at the club reception to be sure. It was closed the next morning when I noticed that power was also available.
