The DOC campsite at Mangahuia is a small campsite located alongside the Whakapapa river.
It was a miserable drizzling wet afternoon when we called in, but we stopped anyway to get some pictures.
There is not a lot of room for large vans and it could have been tricky turning around if there had been any other campers parked there.
Otherwise it is a standard DOC site with access to the river in a rugged and peaceful location.
