SH3 through Manawatu Gorge was closed permanently by a giant slip in 2017, and is now the gateway to the Manawatu Gorge Walks.
There are clean public toilets in the large gravel parking area. The site is managed by DOC, and you may be able to stay overnight. You should check with DOC to be sure.
