Palmerston North Reserve is a large reserve, including a rose garden, train ride, and sports grounds, separated from the river by a forest reserve.
We went for a very pleasant long walk from the Palmerston North Holiday Park through the rose garden, and reserve and returned back through the forest to the river bank. This is a facility that is much enjoyed by locals, especially on a sunny weekend.
There is plenty of parking for large vans along the drive, and this would be a very nice location to stop for a break if you are passing through Palmerston North. Unfortunately, overnight parking is not allowed.
