Mission Bay Reserve is a nice place to stop for a break right on the lake front, and include stunning views of the snow covered mountains in the Tongariro National Park.

 

Like Waitetoko Beach Reserve, there is a prominent No Camping sign, which presumably prohibits overnight parking in self-contained van.
