There is a carpark next to the Old Waiomu Campground where self-contained motor caravanners can freedom camp for up to 2 nights.
You need to be certified self-contained, or you risk getting fined $200 by the local council.
It's just a small carpark, but could be a good backup location if the Waimu Beachfront Domain is already full, or if the grass is wet and a bit soft.
As long as there are not too many vans parked in there, there is plenty of room for large vans.
