Reserve parking on the grass
Omakau Reserve is located on the other side of the Manuherikia river from Omakau town. Freedom camping is allowed for self-contained motor caravanners.
While there is a large area for parking by the river, it was not particularly well maintained when we visited. However, it could be a good location for fishing, or just chilling out for a while.
